TARABA STATE GOVERNMENT IS UP TILL DATE IN THE PAYMENT OF PENSION

Taraba State Government has paid all it pensioners till January 2017. This revelation came at the second edition of the FACE THE PRESS organized by the office of the Senior Special Assistance to Governor Darius Ishaku on Public Affairs held yesterday at the Conference hall of the Bureau for Local government and Chieftancy affair. The Chairman of the state Pension Board Elder Nuhu Abe make this clarification, at the press briefing, he explain that the Government of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku is not owing any pensioner an arrears as all the three thousand four hundred and eighty two (3,482) pensioners in the state had received their January pension. The chairman said only arrears of gratuity is presently been own, and the government is making frank efforts to address the issues. Also present at the Face the Press was the Chief of Staff to the Governor Hon Rebo Usman, who gave elaborate explanation of the accumulated gratuity. Hon Rebo who is also a former Commissioner of Finance in the state explain that the problem of gratuity in the state dated back to 2007 and it will be very unfair for anybody to attribute it to the present Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, he explain that the governor has a heart for the pensioners and is concern about the outstanding gratuity but things need to be place in the scale of priorities considering the present economic recession and the dwindling oil revenue. Hon Rebo explains that the only solution to the pension problems is for the state to embrace the contributory pension scheme which is already operational at the Federal level and some states in the country.
