"Within the next four years, we shall embark on re-seeding and reclamation of the Mambilla pasture land through Accelerated Pasture Development Programme (APDP), to improve free-range of livestock production. We shall facilitate the development of enterprises and value chains around the by-products of increased livestock production such as hides, skins, hooves, horns, blood, and bone meals. This will create more jobs for our youth and as well help grow the economy of our dear state.
Livestock systems occupy about 30 per cent of the planet's ice-free terrestrial surface area and are a significant global asset with a value of at least $1.4 trillion. The livestock sector is increasingly organized in long market chains that employ at least 1.3 billion people globally and directly support the livelihoods of 600 million poor smallholder farmers in the developing world.
