Taraba state gets a Water purification machine compared to non in the whole North East *I'm hear to work, I'm working, I will work and pull you with me to work* The meeting took place at Gym hall jolly Nyame stadium jalingo And had in attendance His Excellency the Deputy Governor Taraba state Engr Haruna manu, SSG Hon Anthony Jellason, Chief of staff Hon Rebo usman, Head of Service My Simon Angyo , Alh Abbas Galadima Muri, Commisioners, Advisers SSA's jalingo Metroplitansts etc. The governor speaking said I'm dancing because I'm happy, I'm happy because what I said hear one year four months ago is coming to pass. I can ask each and everyone hear and will confirm that there is a borehole in his or her village. The Governor comfirmed this when he called from the audience and confirm that there towns all have boreholes. It is simply a pleasurable thing for me insuring in a paradigm shift that meets international practices. We must agree that water is life and how we handle water tells how much life we live. As an indigen about 22 years ago I was an ordinary consultant then, I advised the governor then that jalingo will need maximum water but they never listen. When I came on board the first thing I thought I should do was to correct that anomalies. You need water to keep that life going just as you need food to survive. We first visited AFDB and when I visited Them I told them that the project they are doing is not sustainable and they agreed with me, and the reason is simple that it has never been done any were and you must attest that boreholes gives you water for a day sometimes and stop. I went ahead to let them know that a visible means of sufficient water should be put in place. The general manager ran a cost on areas to have sufciant water but it was expensive. I had to trace the consultant who has retired far back in Europe thank God he is not death, and we got a source from river lamurde. And looking through his files he came up with some were we got cheaper and today the project is ongoing. I recalled vividly during my inaugural speech i said,I will make water my priority and I thank God that we are making it work today. SOME ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE SECTOR -Repair of all broken down pips -Restoration of water to jalingo and 39 other towns -Visits to the country African development bank to meet the state developmental strides. -The award of the new contract to the jalingo water supply to compliment the already ongoing water project. -The payment of counterpart fund which has been there ever before I assume office -Drill of over 100 boreholes in community round state -The purchase of cutting age modern laboratory machines -Purchase of water treatment equipments to meet consumable water -Study and bench marking visit to Nairobi, and soon 50 people will go for studies on water in Nairobi -The purchase of 500 water pump for dry season farming -Construction of 2 number electric boreholes to be use in the green house in ATC and soon we will be largest exporter of vegetable -The reactivation of the mini water stations -Passage of water hygiene in Taraba state and has been passed by TRHA we thank the speaker and his memebers -Signing of water sewage between Nairobi and Taraba state We are prepared to send 50 persons to Nairobi to be trained on how to operate and give them the discipline on how to maintain and sustain this project The governor said The spirit of not been passionate about job is out of us and we should not always carry money money in place of our jobs because when you are know what you are doing you will enjoy and be known Water is a huge revenue source which can guarantee the increase of the revenue in the state if properly guided, we shall support the WASA and we will make sure that all are in place to enable them work without stress, we are also considaring granting them autonomy. A board of directors will be appointed to give possible managering advice for proper performance, we shall see to it that they are equipped. I call on all workers and staffs of water supply evenly to take there job seriously so as other states can replicate. I call on all, the People of Taraba state to take our resources as theres and not see them as one person's own and not in danger them to vandalism, I urge all you agencies to also please pay your water bills so as to have sustainability. The Governor finally thanked everyone who came and dove his heart for the laboratory technicians for a job weldone. I urge the state to be decipline in the manner in which we use our waters, not to open the taps and keep running out another's persons potion. We shall go into privatizing the water soon and we shall begin to use ATM just as the Managing director has said to avoid waste. I assure you all Tarabans that I'm equal to the task I have come to work and I'm working and and I will pull you with me if you are not working because when the spirit is in you. you must know that one person can't build a state it is a collective efforts. The Governor said it is not his duty to take what's he said to the public neither should he take it to the radiostation or TV station, he said the commisioner the chief press the media aids are to do that and not him because he has done his own by saying it.
