Intensify security survellance in your respective council areas Gov. Ishaku urges Chairmen.

Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has charged the 16 local councils Chairmen to ensure extra vigilance in their respective council areas now that most farmers are busy harvesting their farm produce.

This was revealed to Government House Press Crew by the state Deputy Governor, Engineer Haruna Manu shortly after a closed door meeting with the 16 council Chairmen and the Coordinators of the two Development Areas, Ngada and Yangtu.

Engr. Haruna Manu said there is the urgent need to fortify security survellance across the state particularly, local government areas that falls along the borderlines with some of the neighbouring states, stressing that most of the flash points, crises hotbeds that have been consistently used by miscreants, Marauding herdsmen and bandits should be given priority with a view to combating any problem now that the festive season is around the corner.

He disclosed that they have all agreed to work collaboratively and to promptly intimate the governor whenever there is likely breach of peace in their respective council areas, emphasising that peace must be given adeguate attention so that people in the state can go about normal businesses without entertaining any fear at all times.

The Deputy Governor also mentioned that the monitoring team set up by the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs to monitor projects executed by councils Chairmen from the funds released them for developmental projects also submitted their report to the Governor, saying that the Governor expressed satisfaction with most of the projects.

Haruna further stated the Governor has also agreed to release more funds periodically to the council Chairmen as a mark of continuity and tasks them to ensure that most of the projects they will embark upon are those that will directly have positive impact on the lives of the people, noting that the exercise is going to be a continuous one untill all communities in the state feel the presence government their domain.

He revealed that the five local government councils that were not able to access the funds because their proposals were not convincing have resubmitted new proposals and their funds will be released to them on Monday by Bureau for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs to enable them kickstart their projects immediately.

Explaining further, the state Deputy Governor said the Chairmen were not given instructions as to what type of projects they should execute, rather they should go to their respective council areas and identify their immediate needs with a view to executing projects that will help address such needs.

Engr. Manu however remarked that, the Chairmen were advised not to embark on projects that will not see the light of the day, stressing that, the Cardinal objective of the Rescue Mission is embarking on people oriented projects that are viable, impactful and have direct bearing on their lives and with zero tolerance to abandoned or phantom projects that may not be completed.
