DETAILS FROM THE MAIDEN CONVOCATION OF KWARARAFA UNIVERSITY

Taraba - Just within 24 hours after the 40th anniversary of Aku uka, the people of wukari have yet hosted more dignitaries in the Maiden Convocation of kwararafa University, as high notable personalities, dignitaries & well wishers came in their numbers. The likes of TY Danjuma, Gov. Darius Ishaku, his deputy Haruna Manu, Prof Jerry Gana, Sultan of Sokoto, DSK, Senators, first class chiefs, speaker Taraba state house of Assembly, Victor Bala, Amb Idris Waziri, Members TSHA, commissioners & many other dignitaries were all present to grace the occasion.

Highlights of the events include graduation of students from 20diffrent accredited courses and 15 on the process of accreditation, installation of Andoma of Doma as the chancellor of the University by the Aku Uka, presentation of doctorate degree awarded to the Sultan of Sokoto, Wife of General TY Danjuma, Senator Daisy & Prof Julius Okoji.
The new chancellor, Ali Yoga Doma, in his speech said “TY has been a pillar to the university and he employs him to come and take over the University as his own. Doma also said that TY has build universities across the length and breadth of the nation and he is sure that Taraba is now ready to enjoy his benevolent strike towards education boast”.

The Registrar of the University Dr Joshua Sangeri, a brilliant young man who spoke intelligently said “it is indeed a mile stone in the history of the University, in conducting this Maiden Convocation; he urged the grandaunts to affect the nation positively, as they approach the public and the Labor market.
Prof Jerry Gana is the pro-Chancellor of kwararafa University, urged the grandaunts to be good ambassadors of kwararafa University, he prayed that they should excel in all there endeavors. He celebrated the vice Chancellor as a great intelligent man and one of the best vice Chancellor in the world. On a final noted, he thanked TY Danjuma for all he has given to the nation and however urges Nigerians to embrace peace so that they can be development and growth.

The Vice Chancellor in his remark thanked Governor Darius Ishaku, saying he has for long been supporting the University even before his enthronement as governor. “When ever he sees the master plan he thank God for giving Taraba sons who are blessings to the state” he added.
Miss Ruth Angyu, the best graduating student with 4.7GPA (first class) received price(s) from almost all the dignitaries who attended the Convocation. In her valedictory speech she thanked all who were with them during the journey especially her lecturers who were with her. She said she started the journey one morning when she left her house in 2012 never knowing that it was a journey of greatness. She encouraged other students saying “they should always aim high and nothing less, she however challenged those left behind to embrace worthy of what they are pursuing. Miss Angyu counts it with all joy for been among those leaving today. She finally said “yesterday is history, today is a gift tomorrow is a future” “strive for what will leave a footprint I the sand of time”. Saying when ever they meet again it will all be merry merry.

The Governor of Taraba, in his speech thanked the Chancellor for remembering that he had an input. He congratulated the graduating student and told them that they've just done the graduation, now is the time to show what they’ve learned & put it to practice. He said he that aims that the tree will not bring down fruits but he who aim at the top will bring down many. Ishaku however said “what they give to the public will make them be those who came, saw and conquered”. “Education is the best legacy that can be giving to anyone. the transformations that universities brings are always rapid just as he was in the picture of that of Ibadan” Ishaku added.

The University is beginning to transform the Wukari town and also the lives of our boys and girls. The governor thank the VC, Chancellor and registrar saying they should not relent in putting in there best so that the University can grow higher. On behalf of Tarabans, He finally appreciated all who came and said a big thank you to their visitors.
Responding to the challenge of the Chancellor, TY Danjuma said he isn't going to talk but he stands to support his dear wife for the award. He observed that the University is owned by kwararafa Investment Company and has his own article of association. He said he will like to see in writing what ‘take over’ means and will also want to see in writing that an outsider is invited to come and take over. Gen. Danjuma further said ”the responsibility they are asking of him, comes with a price, he said they all will seat down and know what he can afford. He said he is the Chancellor of Redeemers University and he has been awarded with more than 10 awards and they all comes with a price tag, he has many people shopping for money from him and he will only do the right thing when he sees them in writing.
